How to live like you want

You have always dreamed of living in another country, the question is how do you do it?

My name is Jon Steele and you may have read some of my articles at the fabulous Escape Artist.com. My articles have been about Chile and my experiences living there. After so many emails, (more than I could count) I realized there were alot of people who wanted to learn tips and tricks for being able to live in another country. So I put up this site which will give you information about how one can live outside of the U.S. in another country.

I have gotten many emails from people, some concerned with world affairs and still others that felt life in the U.S. was becoming a bit like a prison. Just as in the movie, Escape From New York, where New York was turned into a maximum security prison, people today say they can feel the squeeze of the invisible bars surrounding America now.

I live in South America for six months and in the U.S. for the other six. The technique of having two residences in two different countries is called "Bi-Continent Living". It's a phrase I coined myself awhile back to explain my way of life. I am happy and quite content with my style of living, but I had no idea that other people would be interested in knowing how to do this or in how to just pick up and move to another country alltogether. People just want options and to know the possibilities.

This website is a resource to help those who may be contemplating life elsewhere. Here you can find my books that were written based upon my actual experiences and information I have accumulated over the years. When I decided I wanted something more than "utopian life" in the U.S., there was no one there to help me or teach me what I had to know. I made several mistakes and approached things wrong. My books will prevent you from making the mistakes I did. Now while my books are not the definitive last word (No one person can know it all) they are very good sources of information to help you achieve your dream of living elsewhere. If I can do it, so can you!

The first thing one needs to do is find a country of interest that you may want to live in, the best resource for that is the United Nation's Human Development Report, that lists the best countries to live in.
